Refreshed for April 2026
We refreshed this guide in April 2026 to reflect how the office-moving process has shifted in Houston since the original 2025 version. The biggest change: hybrid-office reconfigurations now make up roughly 40% of our office-move requests in 2026, compared to about 18% in 2024. That has reshaped the walkthrough conversation — fewer 1-for-1 cubicle relocations, more hot-desk and meeting-room-heavy floor plans. Walkthrough-to-move-day timelines have also tightened: most Houston offices now book 4–7 weeks out (versus 6–10 weeks in the prior cycle), with weekend dates between May and August booking earliest.
The Walkthrough
The first thing a professional office mover will do is schedule an in-person walkthrough of your current space. This is not a formality — it's the foundation of your entire move plan. During the walkthrough, your project manager assesses furniture volume, IT equipment, specialty items, access points, elevator availability, parking, and any obstacles at the destination. Be skeptical of any mover who quotes without walking your space.
The Proposal
After the walkthrough, you'll receive a detailed written proposal. A professional proposal itemizes labor, materials, equipment, insurance coverage, timeline, and the name of your dedicated project manager. There should be no vague line items. At Corporate Relocators, our proposals are all-inclusive — no hidden fees added after the fact.

Request a Free WalkthroughMove Day
On move day, your project manager arrives first to meet building management, confirm elevator reservations, and brief the crew. Your team should have everything packed and labeled. The moving crew handles all furniture disassembly, transport, and reassembly at the new location. Our IT team handles disconnect and reconnect of all technology. You should not need to supervise the move — that's what the project manager is for.
Post-Move
A professional mover doesn't disappear when the last box is delivered. Expect a post-move walkthrough to confirm furniture placement matches your floor plan, verify all IT systems are operational, and document any damage immediately. Any issues should be reported to your project manager on-site — not weeks later.
What Separates Good Movers from Great Ones
The difference between a competent commercial mover and a great one comes down to communication and accountability. Great movers proactively flag issues before they become problems, keep you updated throughout the move, and take ownership when something goes wrong. Ask for references and call them before you sign.
